Not every leak is a new roof. A large share of the calls we take are flashing details, failed vent boots, a valley that stopped draining, or a few courses of wind-lifted shingles — all fixable for a fraction of a replacement.

When you need roof repair
A stain on the ceiling or in the attic
Water travels along rafters before it shows up inside, so the stain is rarely under the actual entry point. Tracing it properly is most of the job.
Shingles missing after a windstorm
Northwoods wind events lift tabs and break seal strips. Left alone, the next storm peels the course above it.
Rust, gaps or lifted flashing
Chimneys, sidewalls, skylights and dormers are where most roofs actually leak — the field of shingles is usually fine.
Ice-dam damage at the eaves
Backed-up meltwater gets under the shingles and into the soffit. The repair has to address the ice-and-water detail, not just the drywall stain.
How we find the actual leak
We start in the attic where we can get there, because the underside of the deck tells the truth: staining, rusted nail shanks, damp insulation and daylight all point back to the entry. Then we go up top and inspect the suspect area, the flashings around it, and the slope above it.
Guessing costs you money. We would rather spend an extra half hour tracing water than caulk something and have you call again in March.
Repair or replace?
Repair makes sense when the field of the roof is sound, the failure is localized, and the shingles still have flexibility and granule coverage. A flashing rebuild, a valley re-detail or a boot replacement can add years.
Replacement makes more sense when the underlayment has failed across a slope, the deck is soft, the shingles have gone brittle, or you are repairing something new every season. We will say so directly, and we will also say when you can safely wait a year or two.
Repairs that hold up to a Wisconsin winter
A repair here has to survive snow load, freeze-thaw cycling and ice at the eaves. We use full flashing rebuilds rather than sealant where a joint is failing, replace boots with the correct size instead of collaring them, and extend ice-and-water membrane where the original coverage fell short.
Where a repair is genuinely a stopgap — mid-winter, active leak, no workable install window — we say so and price it as a stopgap.

We do small repairs. We are based in Tomahawk and work throughout the surrounding counties, so a vent boot or a section of flashing is worth the trip.
Can you repair a roof in winter?
We can stabilize and stop active water in winter. Some permanent repairs need warmer weather to seal properly, and we will tell you which category yours falls into.
Will a repair match my existing shingles?
We match as closely as the product line allows. On older roofs, weathering means a repair area may be slightly different in tone even with the correct shingle.
What is the difference between roof repair and replacement?
A repair fixes a localized failure on a roof that is otherwise sound. A replacement removes the entire system down to the deck because the underlayment, decking or shingles have reached the end of their service life.
